Warning for drivers approaching Liverpool Airport

To re-iterate: Drivers are being warned not to stop on the approach road at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and other surrounding access roads or they could face a charge of up to £100. A Red Route no stopping zone has already been introduced on the Airport approach roads and the dedicated bus access routes due to growing congestion caused by vehicles stopping and blocking the lanes. The subsequent congestion has created some safety risks for other motorists and potential costly delays for emergency vehicles responding to an incident at the Airport.

10 Year Anniversary

The twenty fifth of July marks the tenth anniversary of the official opening of the current passenger terminal at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. It was 10 years ago that Her Majesty The Queen visited the Airport to unveil a plaque and declared the new multi million pound passenger terminal officially open, meeting a number of invited guests including Yoko Ono, wife of former Beatle member John Lennon after whom the Airport had been renamed in March of the same year. Since opening ten years ago, more than forty five million passengers have passed through the terminal.
